Craig Interviewed on XM

On Monday, I had a really great interview on XM's The Agenda with Joe Solmonese. Joe is the big cheese at the Human Rights Campaign. He kept pausing and making interesting "hmmm" sounds. Wasn't sure what to make of it because I was doing the interview by phone and couldn't see his face. Still, I had a great time talking with him and his co-host, Courtney Snowden, head honcho at D.C. Black Pride. (It cracks me up that these bonafide political movers and shakers want to talk to the lil' ex-stripper guy, but I really appreciate the support.) You can listen to the interview here.

Here's a cool review of my book from the Dallas Voice. I love when the reviewer, Arnold Wayne Jones, calls the book "somehow both bawdy and sweetly nostalgic at the same time." And I really love the caption underneath my picture: "Seymour, the dick-dancing scholar."

Countdown to Goodbye

As many people know, I'm about to move from Providence -- a city I love for so many reasons, including its visual charms -- to Chicago. So I'm going around taking pictures of all the things I love about the city. Here are some photos from last night.

Books on Writing

People often ask me about my favorite books on the writing and publishing process. Here's a short list of some of my faves:

Book Publishing:

This is my favorite book on what it takes to be a published author...

It kills me that some writers think they don't need any help writing book proposals. It's like a first time entrepreneur thinking that she/he can write a business plan without any consultation. A book proposal IS a business document that needs to be rendered creatively. I think these books are very helpful in showing what it takes to write a good one, i.e. one that sells.

Writing a Novel (I'm working on one now and found this book to be very helpful):

Screenwriting (I've yet to finish a screenplay, but I love dabbling in the form. Plus, I've found that these books have helped me with rendering scenes visually and understanding story structure in general.):

This isn't a book, but it's a fantastic software package for formatting your screenplay. Correct formatting can make the difference between getting your script read and getting it thrown in the recycling bin (I was gonna say "trash" but H-wood is so green.)
