Check out this article on me from Brazil’s JUNIOR magazine. It’s SO cool! I’ve never been to Brazil, but like Britney Spears says, I-I-I Wanna Go-o-o!!!
Here are scans of the article, along with the translated text, including quotes by me.
Darn that Craig Seymour. The writer, music critic and Art History scholar has two great passions: photography and boys who make a living by stripping in front of an audience. He himself was a stripper in graduate school and even wrote a book about the experience. Soon, he brought together his interests in his unique work. For one project, the recently completed Shower, he followed wet boxer contests in which guys dance under the water in transparent clothing. In another project, he takes unpretentious pictures of stars of the porn industry, but the book American Boys: A Strip Club Diary is the apple of his eye. All black and white, the book is a photographic record of his wanderings in male striptease bars in the U.S. In front of the lens of photographer, the boys assume the role of objects of desire. You do not want to miss the buzz from his images. – Irving Alves
“I thought it would be cool to start recording my experiences through my photos. I want viewers to get a sense of what it felt like to be there.”
“I think the reason that people, like myself, go to strip clubs stems from a yearning to connect with something beautiful. This is similar to the reason why people are attracted to art. I hope that my photos reflect this yearning.”
“I love taking pictures of hot guys.”
“My main concern when shooting a model is to make him feel comfortable. I think the best pictures come from a trusting relationship between the model and the photographer.”
“I like images that look intimate, like something private, not to be shared with the world.”
“A lot of times I don’t know what I’ve taken until I get back home. Generally, I’m just out having fun, and I have my camera with me.”
