I’ve been in love with Grace Jones ever since I was 10-years-old, sitting on the plastic-covered furniture in my grandparents’ living room watching her sing “Do or Die” on "Soul Train." My obsession continued into junior high, when I wrote a book report on her collaboration with Jean-Paul Goude, Jungle Fever. I’ve waited for hours to see her in concert, and I’ve been there through ever stage of her career, when people where like, “Grace, who? Does she really make music?” That’s why I think it’s cool that’s she’s finally getting recognition for being, like, the shit. In honor of the U.S. release of her album Hurricane (which comes with a fierce, new bonus-disc of dubs), I put together a mix of some of my fave Grace musical moments. Enjoy!
